As part of our initiative to ignite fresh thinking into marketing in SA we are bringing two international experts to speak to South African marketers as part of a one-day event in Johannesburg only.
Gavin Fraser is a UCT alumnus who is a Senior Global Expert on Blue Ocean Strategy and has worked with the globally renowned Blue Ocean Strategy team at INSEAD for 15 years. He has consulted to the world’s largest and best known businesses on five continents on how to implement the Blue Ocean principles and can share some interesting examples that are relevant in a developing economy.
Prof. Martin Hoegl has been researching innovation and leadership for 15 years and is Head of the Institute for Organisation and Leadership at Munich University. He is an acknowledged authority on how to build and manage a creative and innovative marketing team and how to operate effectively within financial constraints. Having recently completed work in India he also has experience in an environment that we can learn from.
We’ll also look at the key innovation theories and tools available to help move your team forward and introduce concepts such as design thinking, thematic thinking, Crowdsourcing etc.

Prof Hoegl is an acclaimed researcher and academic writer who has won multiple awards, including the MBA Best Teacher Award (from WHU part-time MBA students) and the Richard Beckhard Prize from the MIT Sloan Management.
The ILO research focuses on key areas of leadership and organization in an innovation-driven economy, such as a better utilization of the knowledge, creativity, and, thus, the innovation capability of employees.
The objective of the Institute for Leadership is to offer significant scientific contributions, which find recognition in the review processes of leading international journals.
At the same time, their aim is to offer companies new insights and practical tools to address key leadership and organizational challenges.
